Galloping
through my night
it took a
long panting dream
to finally catch a corner
of her red cape
exhausted
relieved
finally making contact
the full red hood
took its time
to slip back
exposing
not a wolf
but a papery
crone
gumming
her lips in
a wide
trick
of a smile
I woke up from a long dream of chasing Red Riding Hood last week. She gave me quite a run. I was gasping and giggling nervously when I came to. I would include it at HCB, but don't know how. :) So, I'm playing on the sidelines. Reading the other poems about a character in a book has been fun.

Kathleen, go to http://seedlingsinstone.blogspot.com/ (L.L. Barkat's blog), to the second story down (The spirituality of Business) and post your link to the poem in the comment box. You can't hide a dream like this!
I'm so glad you took up the idea to make your dream a poem. I especially like the lines ". . . but a papery/ crone / gumming/ her lips in / a wide/ trick / of a smile". Quite an image you create with those words.
Thanks for the suggestion, Maureen. I followed it. :)
I posted it Glynn, thanks for the help, even though it's late. There is so much info out there and so much to read-I always feel a chapter behind.
Appreciate you both.
oh goodness, what a wonder! You surprised me with the end of your poem, the way I'm guessing your dream surprised you. :)
So glad you offered it.
And you need to join HCB. :) (this one's good enough to feature! )
Ah, dreams are always so surprising in their shape and color. So fun to remember and make a poem later. I shall have to try that.
:-)
Thx Phoenix, Laura and Nancy-
