Linked

Family and friends ~
an eternal chain
linked ~
forged together
 by
history
memories
time
heartache
play
children
marriage
tragedy
laughter
and tears.

Rusty spots need
oiled with affection,
resurfaced with gladness,
sanded with gratefulness.

This strength
weighs heavy ~
a heaping pile
of glory
able to tug
us
upstream
 against
the
current.

I've missed your poems, and am glad you're back with one.

What a piece of machinery that chain must pull. Wonderful metaphor for the pulls and tug of family, how tough the bonds are to break. (It's the opposite of "broken" but I think it could go for the Blog Carnival today.)

Yes ... it's good to have you back.

Chains can be powerful ... both ways.

Ah, lovely my friend.

Rusty spots need
oiled with affection,
resurfaced with gladness,
sanded with gratefulness.

Yes.

This is wonderful. I love the pattern your words made on-screen and in my heart.

BLessings.

You know, you're so right... We're linked not just by the laughter and happy moments. I think the strongest links are often forged during our toughest times.

I enjoyed your poem.

so glad
to be linked
arm in arm with
you, my rust
rubbing off onto
your shiny and we
hold heavy to the
music we make together.

"against the current"

I liked that. And for some reason I love the word "against." :)

It is lovely to see you back!

And this poem is beautiful -- it pulls me into those chains and wears down my gritchy spots!
