Choosing to Breathe

Waiting monster
hangs out underneath
the bathtub drain

it scares me
when he grabs my
unsuspecting ankle
sucking me down swirling
to live with him
in dark, suffocating
misery

kicking loose
the choke hold
licking it's lips to
enslave me

I run outside
to gulp
deep breaths of
garden life

gathering dayspring
 basket full of
manna

just enough
for the wilderness
today

Who knows what lurks below drain deep?

Augh! I do not need a reason to avoid the shower, you know. *grin*

I like how the imagery balances itself on an invisible, but tangible, fulcrum of truth.

Yeah, that bathtub bully freaks me out too. Someone really ought to woop his bad self. Oh yeah, The Manna-maker already has!

Blessings.

what lurks beneath
the bed and drain
enough
to give
one's brain
a sprain ...

Love it -- sort of like the monster in the washing machine -- who really knows what dastardly deeds he can get up to?

Fun!

I think he's actually under my bathroom sink.
