A glass coffee table top shattered. I stacked the shards as high as possible then ran the hose over the whole pile. It fascinated me how such an innocent thing as water completely softened the razor edge.
This is clear glass, and yet like a glacier or a diamond, gathers color. It entranced me.
Iced confusion. Broken, shattered dreams.
Piled up, the pieces are beautiful
Light. Stacked. Captured. As a whole, enchanting.
Nancy's photo of layered 'found' paper inspired this.

woah! very pretty!
The photos are themselves a poem.
That was just beautiful.
Beautiful! I love how we can find beauty in the simplest thing. It is a gift from God. :)
These are such cool photos, Kathleen. The glass in the first image is sculptural; in the last, it looks like cascading water.
You have a great eye!
I love the color too!
iced confusion ... I like that
Nancy, this is your fault you know. :) Thanks Glynn, Melissa, Together, Maureen and Kandi. Appreciate the feedback greatly.
Really beautiful!
the light play belies the danger of the sharp shards. sometimes life can be that way. i love how you see beauty in the moment, kathleen.
Beautiful photo's, and the way you link them to metaphors for our lives. Shattered ice. It reminds me of the winter, icicles: beautiful arctic shards of light.
Thanks Deidre. Belies danger indeed, Laura. Yes, me too, Camel.
stunning images of beauty in the broken
Water softens the razor edge--much akin to what God does to us.
Lovely images.
Blessings.
These photos tangle with my thoughts in a visible representation of the heart attitude gradually emerging into the light of faith, and even as the broken edges of life are deluged with tears, it turns out that God has good purpose. Too often it's easy to believe that brokenness is bad. But when God fills the spaces with His strength, then the more broken we are the better.
I will be linking to this post from my blog today or tomorrow, I think, but I was wondering if you'd give me permission to borrow one of your photos for the post?
Wow. Beauty in the shards!
