Shooting Darkness Dead

A catkin
pregnant with
promise
fresh hope
waiting the awakening
of spring
a release
a birth
relief

Seeing light
on the edge of darkness
shooing shadows
away
from the corners

Thorn
blood red
grows wild
ever since
forever
ago

Delicate tendrils, whisps of bang
blowing in the eyes of the sun
pistachio green miniatures
clinging
 opening
soon
becoming
heavy tresses
long and proud
a waterfall racing
splashing to the ground

who dares climb it?

What a beautiful image of the thorn that is. I like the picture of the catkin, too.

Your description of "pistachio green miniatures. . . soon becoming heavy tresses" is wonderful. A very nice play on Rapunzel!

I am longing for spring looking at these pictures. Today I took photos of icicles. It'll be another month or two before spring really takes hold of Iowa. Glad I can share yours. :)

Illustrations of the words and words illustrating the illustrations. Very neat.

I wanted to thank you for stopping by, and to let you know my poem was rooted in the past and ended with the solution which has brought me to a present place where God's grace always shines visibly to me even in the worst of times. Your comment opened my eyes to how gloomy the poem could seem. Heh.

And then, of course, it is always a pleasure to see others ramble through the joys of God's creation, and this visit is all the more a blessing because the photos so beautifully illustrate promises and hope.

Happy Spring. I'm so glad you picked up the Rapunzel part, Maureen.
Karen, I'm melancholy - glad you're through to the other side.
Thanks Susan, Nitwrit, Erin and Laurie. :) Try and enjoy the outdoors, it does a body good.
